This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Personalized Cat Gifts (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit PersonalizedCatGifts.com, create a preview or place an order, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. We collect only what we need to make and deliver your order and run our store, and we never sell your personal information.
The short version
- We use your details and cat photos to create your preview, make and ship your order, and support you.
- We share them only with companies that help us do that: our production partner, shipping carriers, PayPal, our AI preview providers, and our hosting and email providers.
- We don’t sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising, and we don’t use advertising or analytics trackers.
- Uploaded photos and previews are deleted automatically 90 days after upload.
- Your photos are never used in our marketing without your permission.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Order details: your name, email address, phone number (optional), billing and shipping address, the items you order and your order history.
- Photos and design details: the cat photos you upload when you personalize a product (saved when you add the item to your cart, even if you don’t finish your order), the AI preview images created from it, and the details you enter, such as your cat’s name, the text for your gift, your design choices, your ideas and your notes for our designers. Photos sometimes show people, places or objects in the background.
- Payment information: you pay through PayPal, by PayPal account or by debit or credit card. You enter your payment details directly with PayPal. We receive confirmation of your payment, but we never see or store your full card number.
- Email for extra previews: if you unlock extra free previews, we keep the email address you enter, the IP address it was submitted from, the previews you create afterwards and whether you agreed to receive emails from us.
- Checkout details before you finish: when you type your email address at checkout, we save it with a copy of your cart (including your design) so your cart can be restored. We send a reminder about it only if you have agreed to receive emails from us.
- Email preferences: whether you ticked a box to receive emails from us, when you confirmed it, and when you unsubscribed.
- Reviews: if you review a product, your name, email address, rating, review text and any photos you add.
- Messages: what you send us by email, phone or chat, including attachments. If you message us through a third-party app such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or iMessage, that app’s own privacy policy also applies.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the referring website and the date and time of your visit, recorded in our server logs.
- Free preview counter: to limit the number of free AI previews per visitor per day and prevent abuse, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address with a daily count. It is deleted automatically after a day or two.
- Order source: on the checkout page, our store software (WooCommerce) records how you found us, such as the referring website, any campaign tags in the link and your device type, and saves this with your order.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 5.
Our system is set up to remove embedded location data (EXIF/GPS) from the original photos and review photos it saves. To be extra careful, you can also turn off location tagging in your phone’s camera settings.
2. How we use your information
- to create your AI preview and prepare your design;
- to make, ship and deliver your order, and to send order confirmations and shipping updates;
- to contact you about your order, for example if your photo needs attention before printing;
- to provide customer support and handle remakes, refunds and payment disputes;
- to process payments and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents (for example, limiting free previews and repeated failed login attempts);
- to run, maintain and improve our website and products;
- to send two short follow-up emails after your order is completed: one a few days later to check that everything arrived as expected, and one inviting you to review what you bought. Each includes an unsubscribe link;
- to send marketing emails, such as a reminder about a preview you created or a cart you didn’t finish, new designs and occasional offers, only if you have agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email; and
- to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations and to enforce our Terms of Service.
Your cat photos: we use them only to create your preview and to make and support your order. We will never use your photos, your cat’s name or your finished item in advertising, on social media or on our website without your separate, explicit permission. Review photos you choose to post are shown publicly with your review once it is approved.
3. How we share your information
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our store. They may use it only to provide their services to us:
- Our production partner, which prints and packs your order (your photo, design, order details and shipping address);
- Shipping carriers such as USPS, UPS and FedEx (your name, address and, if you gave it, phone number);
- PayPal, which processes your payment;
- AI image providers: when you create a preview, reduced-size copies of your photos, the product image and the design details you entered (such as your cat’s name and text) are sent from our server to Google (Gemini API) to create the preview image, or to OpenAI if Google’s service is unavailable. We don’t send your name, email address or IP address. We use their paid API services, which under their terms do not use this data to train their models;
- Website hosting, email delivery and IT providers; and
- Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety and property of our customers, our business or others, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. If this ever changes, we’ll update this policy and give you a way to opt out first.
Our team and some of our service providers may access and process your information outside the United States, for example to provide customer support. Wherever it is handled, we protect it as described in this policy.
4. How long we keep it
- Uploaded photos, AI previews and email image copies are deleted automatically 90 days after upload, whether or not you placed an order. Until then we use them to make your order and handle remakes and support requests. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
- Saved checkout carts are deleted automatically 90 days after your last change.
- Records of emails we send (recipient, subject and date) are kept for 90 days to check that messages are delivered.
- Order records are kept as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes, generally up to 7 years.
- Your email address and email preferences are kept until you ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address and the date you unsubscribed so that we don’t email you again.
- Reviews stay on our website until you ask us to remove them or we delete them.
- Messages and server logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for support and security.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the website to work:
- to keep items in your cart and run checkout;
- to keep you signed in, if you have an account, and to protect the site;
- to remember your name and email for reviews, if you choose that option;
- to remember that you unlocked extra previews with your email, so your later previews can be saved for you (a cookie named pps_lead, kept for up to one year); and
- on the checkout page, to record how you found our store (see “Order source” above).
We don’t use advertising cookies, social media pixels or third-party analytics trackers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without them.
We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. Because there is no common standard for “Do Not Track” signals, we don’t respond to them separately.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes);
- opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for targeted advertising and certain profiling (we don’t do these); and
- not be discriminated against for using your rights.
We offer these choices to all our customers, wherever they live. To make a request, email support@personalizedcatgifts.com with the subject “Privacy request” or call +1 (302) 525-6099. We’ll verify your request by matching it to information we already have (such as your email address and an order number) and respond within the time required by law, normally within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you, and we may ask for proof of their authority. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and if you’re not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
California residents: in the last 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in section 1 (identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet activity, and photos and other visual information you provide) for the purposes in section 2, and disclosed them to the service providers in section 3 for business purposes. We have not sold or shared personal information. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you may ask us about disclosures to third parties for their own direct marketing; we don’t make such disclosures.
7. Children
Our website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, payment processing by PayPal (a PCI-compliant provider), limited access to order files, and protection against repeated login attempts. Uploaded photos and previews are stored at long, random web addresses that aren’t listed or indexed by search engines. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password if you have an account.
9. Links to other websites
Our website links to other websites and apps, such as carrier tracking pages, PayPal, social networks and chat apps. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know by email or with a notice on our website.
