This rustic cat ornament looks like something a patient neighbor burned into a slice of birch by the woodstove. Your cat’s portrait is printed in warm sepia tones on a real wood slice, so the fur blends into the grain and rings like a pyrography picture, with “Merry Christmas” lettered above and pine boughs curving along the bottom.

The design: a woodburned-look portrait

We remove the background from your cat’s photo and tone the head and chest in sepia, then center the portrait slightly high on the slice so it fills a little more than half of the slice. The edges fade softly into the bare wood instead of ending in a hard outline. Two muted-green pine branches with three brown pine cones curve along the lower edge in fine line art.

“Merry Christmas” arches across the top in a hand-burned style script, and your cat’s name and the year sit on one line just above the branches in small woodburned-look capitals. To be clear, nothing is actually burned: the look is printed, which keeps every whisker sharp. Our designers then prepare the final artwork from your original photo, tune the sepia so the face stays readable on wood, and check every detail by hand before printing.

Each slice is made to order. Production takes 3–5 business days, and most orders arrive in about 8–12 business days. Free standard shipping on every US order. Photo tips for a sepia portrait

Because the portrait shows the head and chest in one warm tone, contrast matters more than color. Choose a sharp, close photo with clear light on one side of the face, so the eyes, whiskers and ear tufts stand out once the color is gone.
