This custom cat welcome mat shows visitors exactly who will be inspecting them on the way in. Your cats peek over the top edge of the mat with their front paws draped over the wall, wide-eyed and curious, like the household’s official greeting committee waiting for the door to open.

The design: a committee of peeking cats

The background is a plain warm sand color with a thin hand-drawn charcoal border set about an inch in from the edges. Across the top, one to three of your cats, each cut out from its own photo, peek over a thin drawn line like the top of a wall. Their heads and front paws fill the upper part of the mat, and the paws hang down over the line as if they are leaning on it to get a better look.

Under each cat’s paws, its name appears in small spaced caps in a warm terracotta. “Welcome Committee” runs across the lower middle in chunky, rounded charcoal letters, big enough to read from the sidewalk. Our example shows Mochi, Pickle and Sushi – you add your own cats’ names. With one cat the portrait sits centered; with two or three, the cats are spaced evenly in a row.
